Karoline McCarthy, Manager
NVQ level 4, Manager's Award status
Karoline originally trained as a children's Nanny but in 1984 decided to change direction and commenced her career in the Care of the Elderly. She holds professional qualification in Home Management and Social Care and in addition to her NVQ Level 4 holds the Registered Manager's Award. Karoline held the appointment of Deputy Manager at Friars Mead from June 2000 and was appointed Manager in May 2008 following the retirement of our previous Manager.
In addition to an overall responsibility for the running of Friars Mead she has a direct responsibility for our 26 Residents and over 40 Staff.

Martin Smith, Deputy Manager
NVQ level 4.
Having studied Health & Social Care whilst at college Martin became a Care Assistant in November 2000 in Builth Wells, Wales. In July 2001 he became a Team Leader being employed by BUPA until October 2002 when he left to gain experience working with adults with learning disabilities. In May 2004 he returned to BUPA as a Team Leader and was with them until May 2008 when he was appointed Deputy Manager with us. Martin has experience as a volunteer fireman and also as a security guard. His many responsibilities includes Staff Training and the important task of ensuring that all Regulatory Requirements are always in force.
